Nakodar: Some time ago also we had told you about the ineffectiveness of Nakodar Post Office. After that news everything was good for a long time. But for some time, post office customers are facing continuous problems. When this matter came to our notice, the editor-in-chief of Feedfront himself set out to investigate the matter. He entered the post office Nakodar at around 11:30 and observed everything for the next half an hour. Let us tell you in detail about what was seen in this half hour:
Pendesi and Late Latifi: As soon as you enter the post office, there is a cash counter which is often crowded. The chief editor noticed that in half an hour only one person had come out of the cash counter to get the work done, whereas for the last half an hour 12 people were standing waiting for their work to be done. The chief editor thought that perhaps the employee was not doing his work, then after looking a little further, he came to know that instead of working for the customers standing at the window, he was clearing his pendency. When he asked the reason for this, he got the answer that there is a fixed time for updating which has to be done before that. Even if customers have to stand at the window for hours.
Shortage of staff: When Guy talked to the post master about this, he told that he is short of staff and he has to do double and triple the work. The department is not making new recruitment. When he talked about getting the pending PDA work done in the presence of customers, he did not comment but shrugged it off by saying that the work is already being done and is just sitting idle.
Higher authorities should take note: When we all know that private companies are making inroads in the sector. Due to which the condition of government grounds is becoming so bad that the general public hesitates to go there. Post office is one such base on which private courier companies are incurring losses of thousands of lakhs every day. Even in such a situation, the department is not paying any attention to improving its services. Higher officials should pay attention to every post office of the country. What kind of service is being provided or how the staff is treating customers. According to the area of the post office, are there enough employees there? If so, then the shortage of staff should be filled by recruitment.
If we do not pay more attention to these things then the day is not far when the name of India Post will be found written only on the history page of some class. The latest generation will not be able to see how post offices used to be. Just like letterboxes have disappeared from the streets, no one will know when the post offices will disappear from the cities.
