Under the able guidance of Principal Madam Prof. Binu Dogra, the NSS unit of PGGCG-42 today organized SWACHHATA HI SEVA PROGRAMME started from 17th September to 2nd October 2024. Celebrating the theme “Planet vs. Plastic”, the occasion was graced by Honorable Chief Guest Smt. Meeta Rajivlochan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India. The other distinguished guests present on the event were Sh. Paramjit Singh, State Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Sh. Jai Bhagwan, Regional Director, Regional Directorate Office, UT Chandigarh, Dr. Nemi Chand Golia, SLO, State NSS Cell UT Chandigarh and Dr. Parveen Goyal, NSS Programme Co-ordinator, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Principal Madam Prof. Binu Dogra accorded green welcome to all the guests. Madam Meeta Rajivlochan, in her address to the NSS volunteers, emphasized on the Swachhata Drive, initiated under the able leadership of our Honorable Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. She also encouraged everyone to register on merayuvabharat.gov.in portal where already many youth have registered themselves. She apprised everyone that the aim of this portal is to build network for youth empowerment. Aligning with the goals of Swachhata through environmental conservation and sustainability, saplings were planted by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. A cultural event was also staged by the NSS volunteers. The event ended with a vote of thanks by the NSS Incharge Shri Mehar Chand. The event was a huge success as it was attended enthusiastically by more than 600 volunteers.
